Friendship/Courtship/Hatred/Love Contest

It is not about winning or prizes, but about challenging yourself to create more Saiunkoku Monogatari fanworks, for all of us to enjoy! And for everyone to have fun in the process!



Show any Saiunkoku Monogatari character(s) expressing any kind of emotion, such as love, hate, jealousy, envy, joy, sorrow, etc. (It does not even have to be emotion towards another human … it can be towards an inanimate object, like Shurei's love of money! ); or show the  characters in a relationship, such as friendship, courtship, kinship (brother-brother, brother-sister, father-daughter, etc.), rivals, mentor-disciple, master-servant, boss-subordinate, courtesan-client, and anything else you can think of!  

Side-Note for those interested: This theme is inspired by a childhood game we used to play.

The origin of this game is unknown. The game was played as follows: The child would write down her/his own name, and the name of the one she/he fancied. She/he would then cross/strike out every common pair of letters in both names, and label the remaining letters with F, C, H, or L (for Friendship, Courtship, Hatred, Love), repeated from the beginning of her/his name, to the end of the other's name. Whatever letter was used last was said to indicate the kind of relationship the two of them could expect in the future.

This will give you 4 months from now to work on your entry. The reason for such a long duration for the contest is so that every member should then have enough time to participate … if you think you are going to be busy in March 2013, then please start now and get your entry in early!

Traditional, digital, pixel art, artisan crafts, dolls, cosplay, comics, animation - all acceptable – but no fanfiction.

Anime/manga, chibi, semi-realism, realism, abstract, neko, anthro, same-gender love - all acceptable.

Entries can be coloured or not (pencil drawings and lineart acceptable); with or without background; with any number of characters from Saiunkoku, but no OCs; and nothing that would require mature filters.

(a) You must be a member of the group.

(b) Judging will be by all members of the group, by the voting of their first/second/third choices. And that is final … each method has its pros and cons, and there is no one method that can satisfy every contestant. Any complaints will be totally ignored. As explained in the previous contest, the poll system shall never be the method of choice in a contest in this group.

(c) Your deviation's date submitted/uploaded to dA must be on or later than today, 20 November 2012.

(d) Minimum number of entries for contest to proceed to voting is 3 (from 3 different contestants). If less than three entries are submitted by deadline, the contest will be void.

(e) Must be your own work - No tracing, screenshots or manipulations of images from the manga/anime/artbooks.  If you eyeball the image, but draw it in your own hand traditionally or digitally, that's acceptable. Referencing from such images is acceptable.

(f) You can submit more than one entry, but you can win only one prize.

(g) You can substitute your entry anytime before the contest ends, whether with an edited version or a totally new picture. Just give me the link to your entry here in this journal, in the comments below, or on the contest folder page (not on group page!), and I will make the swap.

(h) Your deviation description must state that it is

”submitted to 's Friendship/Courtship/Hatred/Love Contest 2012”.

(i) Entries to be submitted to contest folder, or you can give me the link to your picture and I will do the necessary.
